Water Purification: Techniques for Survival Situations

When you’re off-grid, having a reliable source of clean water is crucial. But what happens when your usual sources run dry or get contaminated? Here are some emergency water purification techniques to ensure you stay hydrated and healthy.

Boiling: The old standby. Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute (three minutes if you’re at a high altitude). It kills bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Just be prepared for a slightly “earthy” taste.
